Data Protection Engineer (f/m/d)

for our offices in Stockholm/ Solna, Umeå, Göteborg, Varberg, Trollhättan (in Sweden Stockholm/ Solna is preferred), Hamburg or Berlin.

Your Job as Data Protection Engineer (f/m/d):
As an engineer for data protection in the Data Center & Cloud operations department you have a deep knowledge of all kind of data protection technologies (backup, high-availability, ransomware protection, etc.) and an overview to the surrounding infrastructure. Also business understanding is necessary to judge if data protection infrastructure should be adapted or optimized. Next to this, you must be able to manage changes in the infrastructure. Also a good communication style is needed to ensure proper stakeholder management and cooperation with your colleagues. Dialogue with different market players (vendors) and analysts (e.g. Gartner) is conducted throughout work activities. There is high focus on security at all costs in setup and designs.
You always challenge yourself and others on how to improve, are open to suggestions from others, but can also give suggestions yourself. This job requires some international traveling. The function also requires you to be able to work independently in an international team meeting more virtually than physically.

Your key activities as an Data Protection Engineer (f/m/d) will be:

  • Central contact person for all technical questions regarding the data protection, backup/restore related services and their components
  • Coordination and execution of tasks for service lifecycle management (planning, installation, upgrade and decommission)
  • Main or driving role in solving incidents, planning and execution of changes as well as root cause analysis of problems
  • Design of infrastructure, based on application specific requirements
  • Creating and updating documentation
  • You are expected to take part in an on-call schedule

 Your Profile as an Data Protection Engineer (f/m/d):
You have experience with working in a larger (international) environment and have the ability to work under pressure. Furthermore, you have / are:

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar in IT, engineering, science or mathematics
  • Deep knowledge/experience with data protection technologies including one enterprise backup solution
  • IT Professional / Engineer with good knowledge in storage and backup Infrastructure, understanding of SAN / NAS, NFS, CIFS, SDDC, vSan and switches
  • Knowledge in Data Center technology
  • Thorough knowledge of operating systems and hypervisors (Vmware/Windows/Linux)
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure (server, backup, network)
  • Good understanding of IT security and automation processes
  • Experience in handling ITIL processes (Incident / Change / Problem / Config)
  • Experience in supporting projects, troubleshooting and (root cause) analysis
  • Knowledge/experience in cloud platforms and technologies
  • Knowledge of DevOps
  • Understanding of core/edge technologies and mapping to data protection architecture

To support current team, following knowledge and experience is required:

  • Experience and knowledge of NetWorker backup application
  • Experience and knowledge of PowerProtect Data Manager backup application
  • Experience and knowledge of PowerProtect backup appliances (Data Domain)
  • Experience and knowledge of hypervisor based (VMware) backups with one of above or all

Beneficial to above is experience and knowledge with native cloud backup solutions or integration modules (e.g. CloudBoost, Fraction, etc.).
