Welcome to Helga Magnúsdóttir's team of System Engineering. A big team of 23 people where our new colleague will take over management of 11 direct reports. They are an experienced, well-functioning and dedicated bunch of architects and system engineers, who know how to work with New Product Development (NPD)  in an R&D organization. Their tenure in GN varies from 6 months to 15+ years.

Leading the team and developing NPD Processes:

Our team plays the vital role in making sure that the architecture and requirements in our products capture the need from the market and our customers. Every day we consider user stories and needs when defining products in collaboration with our Marketing/Sales, usability, mechanical, acoustic, electronic, audiology and software colleagues.

We aim to bring the team even closer to the different R&D colleagues to make sure the system and architecture agenda is top of mind in our development.

We strive to improve our ways of describing what a good architecture feature description is. The more our collaborators know what to expect of us the easier it will be for us to contribute into the development of our products.

Your Key Responsibilities summed up:

  • Help interface to the core development teams via Agile frameworks

  • Mature the Agile/SAfE interface to SW and HW fields through the team.

  • Develop and lead the implementation of R&D plans within area of responsibility, supporting the overall R&D strategy

  • Chance to shape the way the organization works with Agile methodologies

  • Budget handling and lifecycle management for employees, including mentoring and developing the team

  • Regular 1o1 with team members

  • Establishing good methods and processes for the team

  • Responsible for providing accurate reporting and forecasting to management

  • Effectively build trust with VP’s/Directors, establishes an open and honest relationship, and ability to function as a trusted partner

Preferred Education/Experience:

We believe there can be several relevant backgrounds that can qualify you for this role. Most importantly, you are really motivated for the people management role and to help drive how the team has contact points with the development teams in an Agile/SAfE environment. Furthermore, we believe the following will increase your chances of success:

  • Education at Master level

  • Experience with architecture or with requirements in R&D

  • Experience with Agile methodologies, having both HW and SW experiences is a big plus.

  • Knowledge from working with physical products and many engineering fields such as Hardware, mechanics and software
