The goal of the project is to design and evaluate various signal processing algorithms for real-time measurement of motor angle. Using model based signal processing
Atlas Copco designs advanced high precision nut-runner tools for the aerospace and automotive industry. The high performance electric motor of the tools have an angle sensor providing absolute position to be able to achieve optimal motor control. The angle sensor data is also used for calculation of the tightening results that is stored by the manufacturer.
The quality of the angle signal is limited by disturbances, sensor performance, limits in sampling frequency and data speeds in the tools.
Optimizing the handling of the angle signal could improve motor control, energy losses and enable better tightening algorithms. Using other sensor data may improve angle estimates.
• Analyse existing state of the art algorithms for angle signal processing
• Analyse the sensor data and explore if sensor fusion is applicable.
• Analyse the existing method.
• Identify applicable filter methods e.g. Kalman filter.
• Suggestions for improvements.
• Implement and verify the chosen algorithms.
Experience and/or interest in the following is a plus:
• Signal processing
• Sensor fusion
• Embedded systems
• Control theory
